Make-Believe Play

The spontaneous, self-initiated make-believe play of children provides them with the opportunity to use new concepts, language and symbols to interact with others. Reliving experiences and experimenting through role-play helps children to develop their self-concept, their understanding of situations and respect for others

When I dress-up and pretend play I am:

•practicing to understand and master adult roles

•practicing math and language skills

•organizing and using ideas

•symbolically using materials in meaningful ways
